It is quite common for health insurance companies to outsource processes regarding the billing and data management to competent partners such as the Abrechnungszentrum Emmendingen. There, the tremendous data volume is transferred into processes such as payment transactions, accounting or nancial reporting. To cope with a huge data growth, but at the same time maintain data security and privacy, the Abrechnungszentrum Emmendingen started to establish a new data center and infrastructure renewal in a previously used data center in 2010. Following the corporate motto “innovative thinking - dynamic action” the Abrechnungszentrum Emmendingen counts on the exible and modular tML® cabling system of tde-trans data elektronik GmbH.
As a full-range provider of billing and data management in health care, the Abrechnungszentrum Emmendingen offers a portfolio consisting of individual services for the accounting processes in public health insurance and other social security institutions. More than 500 staff members deal with 57 million prescriptions of more than eight million members each year, representing almost ten percent of all obligatory health insured.For optimal business processes in form of highly available business operations and short recovery times in cases of emergency, the latest technologies and modern infrastructure are necessary.
In order to guarantee data protection and data security at the highest level as well as increase the technical capacity of the systems and to be prepared for the further growth of data volume,the Abrechnungszentrum Emmendingen started to build a new data center while at the same time restructuring the existing one in 2010. In the course of these changes, the existing cabling had to be extended or rebuilt.
“Our decision to use tde’s system was based on the technology of the cabling system, the high quality of the products and the company’s references,” said project manager Michael Kranzer. tde supported the Abrechnungszentrum Emmendingen in planning and implementing the new cabling structure.
The 19’’ racks in the data centers of the Abrechnungszentrum Emmendingen were equipped with both ber optic as well as 10-GbE-enabled twisted pair tML®-modules. This means that up to 48 ports per rack unit, partly in a mixed system of ber optic and TP modules were installed. The optical modules have a MPO / MTP® connector on the reverse side and six LCD 50/125 OM3 in the front. The TP modules allow data transmission at 10 Gb per second over six RJ45 connectors per module. The installation of 19” tML® patch panels ensures the right management of the patch cables.
Thanks to the pre-fabricated components, tde’s installation team only had to connect the components, splicing or couching was not necessary. The installation work was carried out during the commissioning of the new data center simultaneously with other jobs such as the refrigeration or the electrical installation in the rack systems.
