Crimp splice protectors from tde ensures secure optical fiber connections
Mechanical and moisture protection for optical fibers in accordance with telecom specification TS 0338/96
Dortmund, April 29, 2026
tde – trans data elektronik is expanding its portfolio of passive network components with a new crimp splice protector solution. The solution reliably protects fiber optic connections from mechanical damage as well as moisture and other environmental influences. Users benefit from high operational reliability, a long service life, and consistent performance of their fiber optic connections.
The crimp splice protectors are manufactured and tested entirely in Germany and complies with the requirements of the Telekom specification TS 0338/96. Serial numbers enable complete traceability and ensure transparency during use. For easy and practical handling, the product is available in stand-up packaging.
“By adding the crimp splice protectors to our product portfolio, we are sending a clear signal of quality, reliability, and sustainability in modern passive fiber-optic infrastructure,” explains André Engel, Managing Director of tde. “We also ensure reliable delivery capacity through high inventory levels.”
Crimp splice protectors are typically made of metal, usually aluminum, and features an elastic or adhesive layer on the inside. Installers place the spliced fiber optic cable into this layer and then crimp the protector securely. This protects sensitive splice points from tension, bending, vibrations, and environmental influences without negatively affecting the connection’s attenuation. Unlike heat-shrink splice protection solutions, this purely mechanical protection method does not require heat. This simplifies installation and also allows the protection to be added later if necessary.
The crimp splice protectors are available both individually and in combination with the tde splice distributors. In the tde FO configurator, customers can choose between variants with or without crimp splice protectors.
