Dortmund, 18 November 2009. tde - trans data elektronik GmbH, the leading manufacturer, distributor and system provider of networking technologies now offers a new tML® fibre optic module especially designed for URM connectors, as a practical addition to its successful tML® - tde Modular Link system. In just one 1U casing, the new module houses 192 fibres, a density that had previously not been obtainable with URM systems.

Dortmund, 18 November 2009. tde - trans data elektronik GmbH, the leading manufacturer, distributor and system provider of networking technologies now offers a new tML® fibre optic module especially designed for URM connectors, as a practical addition to its successful tML® - tde Modular Link system. In just one 1U casing, the new module houses 192 fibres, a density that had previously not been obtainable with URM systems.

Our new tML® URM module, therefore achieves a remarkably high packaging density for a URM system, in addition to very good levels of performance,” explained André Engel, CEO of tde - trans data elektronik GmbH.


The new tML® URM module

The tML® URM module has been designed with installation in the tML® module unit in mind. The 1U module unit contains slots for eight URM modules. On the rear of the modules there are two MTP®/MPO male connectors, while on the front there are three metal URM connectors, each of which holds eight fibres. This means that a total of 192 fibres can be carried in a single 1U unit. Despite the small form factor of the URM connector profile, this level of port density is currently unparalleled.
 
The slim MTP®/MPO trunk cable construction ensures the cable channels are reduced, improving ventilation and therefore permitting significant energy savings in the context of green IT. The matching URM patch cables can be obtained from LWL-Sachsenkabel GmbH and are can be prepared according to customers’ requirements. The URM connector system achieved 0.15 dB typical insertion attenuation and >55 dB typical feedback attenuation in single mode. An APC version will also be available soon.


Successful cooperation

The URM joints and prepared URM connectors are provided by LWL-Sachsenkabel GmbH. “The modular tML® solution from tde really impressed us. This combination of our two systems provides our customers with considerably greater levels of flexibility, and we will continue to include the tML® system in our product range in the future," said Lars Schumann, Sales Director of LWL-Sachsenkabel GmbH.


The tML® - tde Modular Link System

tML® is a patented, modular cabling system that comprises three core components: Modules, trunk cable and module slot units. All system components are prepared and tested in the factory before being installed, mostly in data centres. The plug & play installation means systems can be up and running in the shortest amount of time. There are fibre optic and twisted-pair modules, and these can be used in mixed scenarios in a single module slot unit achieving very high port density. The heart of the system is formed by the rear-mounted MTP®/MPO and telco connectors, through which at least 6 ports can be connected at once using 10 GbE or GbE Performance.
